California Speedway statement on Rusty Wallace

Below are comments from California Speedway President Bill Miller and former NASCAR Director of Competition and track operator of Riverside International Raceway Les Richter, who is currently vice president of special projects for International Speedway Corporation, regarding Rusty Wallace's announcement today about retiring at the conclusion of the 2005 season:

"All of us at California Speedway wish Rusty the best as he completes the 2004 season and turns the page to his final year in NASCAR in 2005. From the early days of his career at Riverside International Raceway, Rusty has built a tremendous allegiance of fans in Southern California. His win at California Speedway in 2001 was extremely popular with the fans here, and he has been a tremendous supporter of California Speedway from the time Roger Penske announced the building of this superspeedway. We look forward to seeing Rusty this Sunday in the Pop Secret 500. In addition, our staff, working along with Miller Brewing, one of our long-time partners, will begin working on ideas to honor Rusty in his visits to California Speedway next year."
