STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Fresh off his runner-up finish last week at Atlanta, a seventh-straight
top five for chassis No. 115, Marlin and the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix
Sabates team will bring chassis No. 105 to New Hampshire for the season
finale. The same chassis finished third earlier this season at Las Vegas.
Marlin enters Friday's race ranked fourth in the NASCAR Winston Cup Standings
(NWCS), just 16 points behind third-place Ricky Rudd and 42 points behind
second-place Tony Stewart. Marlin finished 17th earlier this season at NHIS.
Marlin is the only driver who has remained in the top 10 in points all
season. The 44-year-old driver from Columbia, Tenn., will make career start
No. 539 on Friday.
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will make career start No. 250 on Friday in the same chassis that
finished 13th at Homestead. Burton, a 40-year-old driver from South Boston,
Va., finished fifth last week at Atlanta and ranks 14th in the NWCS, just 13
points behind 13th-place Matt Kenseth. Burton finished 20th earlier this
season at New Hampshire. In the past seven races, Burton has three top fives
and four top 10s and has climbed from 20th in the NWCS.
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will drive the same chassis that finished 21st earlier this
season at New Hampshire. Elliott finished 14th last week at Atlanta and ranks
15th in the NWCS, 82 points behind 14th-place Ward Burton. The the
46-year-old 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion from Dawsonville, Ga., will make
career start No. 659 on Friday.
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
In his final start for Bill Davis Racing before moving over to the No. 77
team next season, Blaney will drive the same chassis that carried him to a
14th-place finish at Rockingham in November. Blaney finished 41st last week
at Atlanta and 37th earlier this year at New Hampshire. Blaney ranks 23rd in
the NWCS, trailing two-time WC champion Terry Labonte by only 25 points.
Blaney will make career start No. 75 on Friday.
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race the same chassis that Petty Enterprises teammate
Buckshot Jones drove to a 31st-place finish at Kansas. Andretti finished 25th
last week at Atlanta and 23rd earlier this season at New Hampshire. Andretti
ranks 30th in the NWCS, and the 38-year-old driver from Indianapolis, Ind.,
will make career start No. 262 on Friday.
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood will drive an Evernham Motorsports Dodge Intrepid R/T chassis that
he won the pole with this season at Phoenix. Atwood finished 14th in that
race. Atwood has moved from 33rd to 25th in the series standings the past
four races, and the 21-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year driver from
Nashville, Tenn., led the way for Dodge earlier this season at New Hampshire
with a 12th-place finish. Atwood finished 20th last week at Atlanta. He's
only seven points ahead of 26th-place Robert Pressley in the series standings
and hopes to finish ahead of Pressley at NHIS in order to finish in the top
25. Atwood led 13 laps at NHIS after making up a lap there earlier this
season. He's ranked third in the rookie standings.
STACY COMPTON (No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton finished 16th at Martinsville and 36th at Rockingham in the
chassis he'll run at NHIS. Compton finished 18th last week at Atlanta and
31st earlier this season at New Hampshire. He ranks 33rd in the NWCS, and the
34-year-old driver from Grit, Va., will make career start No. 66 on Friday.
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler's roller-coaster season continued last week at Atlanta. Fresh off
his first top 10 finish of the season the week before at Homestead, Leffler
failed to qualify at Atlanta. He'll drive the same chassis Friday that
finished 37th earlier this season at martinsville. Leffler finished 27th
earlier this season at Loudon. The 26-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year
contender from Long Beach, Calif., ranks fifth in the rookie standings and
37th in the NWCS.
BUCKSHOT JONES (No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive the same chassis that finished 34th at Homestead. Jones
finished 33rd at Atlanta and 24th earlier this season at Loudon. He rank 41st
in the NWCS, and the 31-year-old driver from Tucker, Ga., will make his 47th
career Cup start on Friday.
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty will drive the same Petty Enterprises chassis he finished 16th with
at Homestead. That matched Petty's best finish of the season. He finished
30th last week at Atlanta and 26th earlier this season at New Hampshire.
Petty ranks 43rd in the NWCS. The 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C.,
will make career start No. 609 on Friday.
