BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will drive chassis No. 08 at Michigan. He finished 14th with it
earlier this season at California Speedway. Elliott started eighth and
finished eighth last June at MIS. The 45-year-old driver from Dawsonville,
Ga., has won seven races in 46 starts at MIS. He has 16 top fives and 27 top
10s. Elliott finished 40th last week at Dover and dropped to 19th in the
NASCAR Winston Cup Standings (NWCS).
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race his California chassis at Michigan. Andretti finished
26th at California. Andretti finished ninth in last year’s Kmart 400. The
42-year-old driver from Indianapolis, Ind., finished 19th last week at Dover
and ranks 30th in the NWCS.
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will drive his Coca-Cola 600 chassis at Michigan. Burton finished
ninth in the NASCAR marathon. The 39-year-old driver from South Boston, Va.,
finished sixth last June at Michigan. He finished 14th last week at Dover and
ranks 17th in the NWCS.
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood, a 20-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from
Nashville, Tenn., will bring chassis No. 23 to Michigan. It’s a brand new
Dodge Intrepid R/T chassis. Atwood tested earlier this season at Michigan but
will race a different Dodge on Sunday. Atwood finished 29th last week at
Dover and ranks fourth in the rookie standings and 36th in the NWCS.
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Kyle Petty will race his California chassis at Michigan. He qualified
14th at California and finished 35th. Petty finished 39th last June at
Michigan. In 38 career starts at the two-mile track, Petty has three top
fives and nine top 10s. Petty ranks 44th in the NWCS.
STACY COMPTON (No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton raced his Michigan chassis earlier this season at Texas and the
Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte with finishes of 15th and 34th, respectively.
Compton finished 42nd last June in his first Cup start at Michigan. He
finished 32nd last week at Dover and ranks 32nd in the NWCS.
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler will race chassis No. 104 at Michigan. He finished 33rd with it
earlier this season at Rockingham. Leffler, a 25-year-old Raybestos rookie of
the year driver from Long Beach, Calif., finished a career-best 13th last
week at Dover. He ranks fifth in the rookie race and 37th in the NWCS.
BUCKSHOT JONES (No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive his Charlotte chassis at Michigan. He finished 27th with
it in the Coca-Cola 600. Jones finished 26th last week at Dover and ranks
39th in the NWCS.
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 BP/Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will race his Las Vegas chassis at Michigan. He finished 26th
earlier this season at Vegas. Blaney finished 25th last June in his first Cup
start at Michigan. The 36-year-old driver from Hartford, Ohio, finished 33rd
last week at Dover and ranks 29th in the NWCS.
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Marlin will pilot chassis No. 115 at Michigan, a brand new Dodge Intrepid
R/T chassis. Marlin finished 10th last June at Michigan. In 29 career starts
at MIS, Marlin has two top fives and seven top 10s. The 43-year-old driver
from Columbia, Tenn., finished sixth last week at Dover. He moved back to
fifth in the series standings, just four points behind fourth-place Tony
Stewart.
