BRIAN VICKERS , NO. 25 GMAC MONTE CARLO SS - Qualified 2nd
ON QUALIFYING RUN:
"We were pretty good in practice and obviously pretty happy with the car. We were a little tight in the center and we helped it but we didn't solve all of it. It is hard to anticipate the pace and how much it is going to pick up. It picked up over a second for us and that is quite a bit. We were still a little tight in the center and lost a little time there, but it was still a good lap for our Garnier Fructis/GMAC Chevrolet. We should be pretty good on Sunday.
ON THE HEAT HERE:
"It is definitely hot out there. Indianapolis was hot as well as have been other races. I noticed the fans were all congregating up in the shade under the tower. It is pretty hot in the cars. It is obviously a lot hotter in there with the suits on with the engines than it is outside. But we just have to deal with it. This is the hottest part of our season, these last few weeks of the summer months. As far as the race on Sunday, it will cool off a lot. It should be a lot cooler Sunday night, it will be great for the fans especially once the sun goes down. It will still be a little warm for us, but better.
As far as the track, it is going to gain a lot of grip just like it did today from practice to qualifying. You set your car up a little loose in the front. You are going to slide around a little bit, but you just deal with it until the shade comes."
ON QUALIFYING HERE AT NIGHT:
"It doesn't matter to me but if we did, it would be fun and it would be fast."
