Pocono: Robby Gordon qualifying report

Gordon Qualifies 28th at Pocono Raceway

Long Pond, Pa. (June 9, 2006) -- Qualifying with a lap of 54.272 seconds (165.831 mph) at one of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series' most unique tracks, a 2.5-mile tri-oval, Robby Gordon and the No. 7 Menards/MAPEI Chevrolet will start in the 28th position at Pocono Raceway for Sunday's Pocono 500.

"Not really sure what happened on our qualifying lap," Gordon said. "We had a fast race car in practice today and the car felt great through all three turns during our qualifying run, I guess we just didn't pick-up time like the other teams. I've had some great runs here in the past though, so I know what it takes to make it the 500 miles and be in the right position at the end. The car is pretty good in race trim so we'll work on it a little in tomorrow's practices and get it even better and hopefully the No. 7 Menards/MAPEI Chevy will be a threat on Sunday."
