Hornish to Start 18th at Infineon Raceway on Sunday

SONOMA, Calif. (June 19, 2009) - Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, secured the 18th starting position for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 road-course event at Infineon Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

During qualifying, Hornish posted a fast lap time of 77.325 seconds at a speed of 92.648 miles per hour. The effort was strong enough to secure the Mobil 1 team the 18th starting position for Sunday's 110-lap race.

"I wish that I had that lap to do over again," said Hornish. "Most guys will tell you that they overdrove their lap but I just feel that I was too nice. I'm happy with the Mobil 1 Dodge. It's a long race and you have to stay out if trouble. It's not always the best car that wins here. We just need to have the right strategy at the right time and keep it on the track all day."
