Matt Kenseth's thoughts on racing in The Winston:
"The Winston is a really neat deal. It takes place at one of my favorite
tracks - Lowe's Motor Speedway. The stakes are high at The Winston and
you will see some seriously un-conservative racing. With the new setup
there will be no holding back, because you don't want to be eliminated.
Kind of like survival of the fastest.
"This race is not only about the drivers though, its about the crews as well. If the DEWALT team can do what they have been doing all year on pit road during both qualifying and the first segment, we should have a big advantage. The pit stops have to be good. Besides that, its going to be fun because there are no points on the line."
Crew Chief Robbie Reiser's thoughts on The Winston:
"I've told the team this is an all-star night. Winston puts on quite a
show, and they really highlight the guys - giving them their turn in the
limelight. It's their night to shine, and we want to take it all home
this year. I think we've got the team to win the Winston, but it will
take 110% effort on everyone's part. We are all excited to be a part of
The Winston, and it helps to not have to race our way in. This way we can
focus on being there at the end."
NOTES OF INTEREST:
Second in the points
Kenseth is second in the point standings, 132 behind leader Sterling
Marlin.
The Flames are back
Just for The Winston, the No. 17 car will sport a flame paint scheme
similar to the Million Dollar Challenge paint scheme seen earlier this
year in Las Vegas.
Get Well Jeff...
Jeff Vandermoss, car chief and jackman for the DEWALT Team continues to
recover from surgery. He hopes to be back in action soon. Russ Strupp,
crew chief of Reiser Enterprises No. 17 Busch Series car is filling in
for Vandermoss.
Matt Kenseth Appearances
Kenseth will sign autographs on May 25th from 7-8pm at Lowe's of Concord
(940 Concord Parkway North Concord, NC - 704-720-9000) and at the DEWALT
Rolling Thunder Trackside display the morning of the Coca Cola Racing
Family 600.
DEWALT Million Dollar Challenge
Be the fastest to drive five screws into a piece of wood and you could
have a chance to win a million dollars during a nationwide contest from
DEWALT Power Tools. DEWALT, the familiar yellow-and-black power tool
company, is launching the Million Dollar Challenge, a promotion that runs
from April to November to see who's quickest with a cordless drill.
DEWALT will hold qualifying events in more than 50 cities nationwide, stopping at various power tool distributors, construction sites, NASCAR races, and other special venues to see who can drive screws the fastest. Those with the fastest times from each city will advance to one of 16 regional contests, which will be held at select Chevrolet Truck dealerships throughout the country. From there, the top 16 winners will each receive a new 2003 Chevy Express utility van filled with DEWALT tools. They also earn an expense paid trip to the Million Dollar Challenge finals to be held November 8-10 in Phoenix, AZ during NASCAR's race weekend.
During the final round, the 16 contestants will compete to see who will become America's fastest screw driver. The champion will win a chance to beat the clock for a million dollar prize in front of 110,000 fans at the Winston Cup race.
