April 18, 2009 - BRASELTON, Ga. -- George Brunnhoelzl III is getting used to this. Brunnhoelzl qualified his No. 28 Oval Speed/Fibrwrap/PT Ford with a speed of 13.374 seconds (100.942 mph) to win his third Coors Light Pole Award of the year. He set a track record to take the top spot.
Brian Loftin (No. 23 L&R Transmissions/QMF Metal Solutions Chevrolet) ran an identical time as Brunnhoelzl and qualified second. Brunnhoelzl, who leads the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour points standings, earned the pole over Loftin in a tiebreaker by virtue of being higher in the points standings. Brunnhoelzl won the pole and the race last year at Lanier.
Burt Myers, Buddy Emory and Andy Seuss completed the top five qualifiers.
Frank Fleming, who qualified eighth fastest, will start on the point after drawing the top spot in the post-qualifying redraw of the top eight spots. L.W. Miller will start alongside Fleming.
