CLAREMONT, IN.-- When Bruce Litton decided to make an appearance on the NHRA/Winston Championship Drag Racing Series, he didn't have to travel far. The Indianapolis, In.,-based, trailer dealer just loaded up his equipment and tireless crew and took a ride across the street to Indianapolis Raceway Park. He earned a preliminary berth in the field after one round of qualifying. Qualifying concludes on Sunday.
He continued to improve his performances in a new Brad Hadman-chassied, dragster with a 4.770/306.46 during his first qualifying attempt on Friday. He ended the day as the 14th quickest out of 24 entries in attendance.
Saturday's first session offered no improvement as Litton struck the tires and aborted the run, coasting to a 11.110/69.23. He retained the 14th spot despite the failure to improve.
Top Fuel qualifying continues Saturday with two sessions. The final two qualifying sessions are set for Sunday. Final eliminations are scheduled to begin Monday at 11 a.m.
The Nashville Network (TNN) will televise two hours of first-round coverage beginning at noon ET Sept. 6, followed by two hours of final-round coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET. A 90-minute show covering the Big Bud Shootout and Holley Dominator Duel eliminations will be televised beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET Sept. 5.
