Millican Advances to Quarterfinals at NHRA K&N Filters Winternationals
Pomona, Calif. - February 29, 2003 - Clay Millican of Team 104+ Performance Additives/Lehman Racing, the number three Top Fuel qualifier, advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2004 NHRA K&N Filters Winternationals at Pomona Raceway.
In the first round of eliminations, Millican faced his former crew member, Brady Kalivoda. Both drivers made clean passes down the track, but Millican came out on top with an elapsed time of 4.545 at 316.60 mph, while Kalivoda clocked a 4.661 at 311.92 mph.
Millican went on to face Brandon Bernstein in the quarterfinals, and got off to a great start with a reaction time of 0.057 to Bernstein's 0.061, but Bernstein edged the three-time IHRA Top Fuel Champion with an elapsed time of 4.487 seconds, while Millican made his fourth pass of the weekend in the 4.5 second range, clocking a 4.557 at 308.85 mph. Millican now has a 1-1 won/loss record against Bernstein.
Millican and Team 104+ Performance Additives/Lehman Racing's next race will be at the NHRA CSK Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 5-7, where they hope to get their first NHRA Top Fuel victory.
