Macanese single-seater driver Rodolfo Avila "broke the spell" in Anderstorp. The Macau SAR representative scored his first points in the fiercely competitive International Formula Master (IFM). Avila left Sweden with a 4th and 6th places.
Straight from the beginning, Avila showed that he was in Sweden to be on the top. Single Qualifying session saw #26 car achieving the 8th position of the Race 1 grid. An impressive performance was yet again shown by Avila in the Saturday's race.
He managed to finish 4th after an entire race under the pressure of the French driver Pierre Ragues.
"It wasn't easy. The car wasn't perfect. When I realised that I couldn't reach the 3rd position, I preferred to keep attention to my position. I was controlling my tiny advantage. I was faster in the first sector but Ragues was stronger in the last one. It was a funny and fair fight. This was the result we were looking for", held the new world capital of gambling official driver who started the Sunday's race in the 5th position.
The Race 2 saw Avila gambling on his choice of tyres, opting for wet, in the hope that more rain would come and the track would stay damp. The Macau SAR driver fought hard during the 25-lap race on wet tyres in the hope of repeating yesterday's performance but the rain left the Swedish circuit. After a good race begin, where Avila could reach to the 2nd position, Cram Competition suffered from staying on wet tyres in the last 15 minutes, dropping to the 6th final position.
In the end of the 45 minutes race, the driver supported by Macau Government, Macau-slot.com, BNU, CESLAsia, PAL AsiaConsult, TsingTao, Fat Siu Lau Restaurant, Sujika Crafts and PT Asia said: "I'm sure I could get a podium finish if the weather conditions hadn't changed. The track got dry and I found myself struggle to handle the car as the tyres just gone. My team-mate crashed in the last lap and a similar incident almost happened to me too. It was impossible to secure the 2nd position. The slick tyres cars were ten seconds per lap faster than us. Anyway the weekend was encouraging and I hope we could keep the momentum going".
Rodolfo Avila is back in action next weekend for the prestigious "Zandvoort Master of F3 at Zolder". "The last week test at Lausitzring was very good and I am really looking forward to return to F3. The car is a true challenge. I am not looking for a dazzling result as we are just be preparing Macau GP but I'll give my best shot".
IFM rounds 11 and 12 will take place in Oschersleben, Germany on 25 and 26 August 2007. Next Thursday Avila will return to IFM car to take part in the official Test Session in the German track.
