South Australian Ford Escort team, Andrew Cavalli and Michael Dale have extended their lead on day two of the Classic Adelaide Rally.

Cavelli and Dale had edged out to a 1 minute, 13 second lead after 12 stages with Victorian driver Peter Kyriakidis holding onto second place despite damaging a radiator after colliding with a tree.

At the front of the competition in the Parade section, Sir Jack Brabham and the international visitors to the rally are delighting the spectators with waves and making themselves available at the lunch venues.

Paul Vestey¹s Ferrari 250GT succomed to mechanical failure, leaving Vesty and navigator, famed author Doug Nye, to transfer to a Lotus Cortina for tomorrow¹s stages.

"The car is 39 years old, it is bound to have some trouble sometime," Vestey said.

Three times British Touring Car Champion and Bathurst 1000 winner, Win Percy has been spectacular driving an Australian built Ford Cobra replica owned and navigated by Melbourne born Ford dealer Stephen Coffey.
