KNOXVILLE, IOWA (February 13, 2001) - The eligibility list for this year's Kele World Challenge Dash, to be held on Friday, August 10, during the Amoco Ultimate Knoxville Nationals, is the largest ever in the eight-year history of the international sprint car competition. Seventy- eight (78) sprint car drivers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States are eligible to participate in the $10,000-to-win dash for winged, 410-cubic-inch sprint cars. Kele international qualifiers were held at the Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, Calif., the Williams Grove National Open in Mechanicsburg, Penna., the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in Warrnambool, Victoria (Australia) and the South Pacific Championship in Western Springs, a suburb of Auckland (New Zealand).
Those eligible who wish to participate in the $34,000 Kele World Challenge Dash must now enter and compete in the 41st annual Amoco Ultimate Knoxville Nationals, August 8-11. The Friday night dash will be lined-up according to a full inversion of those drivers in the top 106 in points after both the Wednesday and Thursday qualifying nights of the Nationals. The remainder of the cars, those outside of the top 106, will tag the rear of the field, starting straight-up by points. The eligible drivers, by country of origin, for the 2001 Kele World Challenge Dash are:
