Friday, October 4, 2002 - Post-Practice - Tomy Drissi, driver of the no. 5 Daredevil/Pyro Jaguar XKR, was 10th quickest in the first Trans-Am practice session with a time of 1:15:175.
NOTE 1 - Drissi inked a multi-race deal with a movie studio to promote n new movie, "Daredevil", to be released on 02/14/03. Drissi's front hood prominently displayed the movie's promotional poster featuring the lead character. Additional information about the upcoming film can be found at www.daredevilmovie.com.
NOTE 2 - BACKGROUND STATS...Ranks ninth in the points standings...Finished third at Trois-Rivieres, his first podium finish since Mosport in 2000...Has six top-ten finishes in nine starts...In 2001, finished 11th in the points standings...Had five top-ten finishes and two "Fast Five" starts...In 2000, was voted "Most Improved Driver"...Won the "Rookie of the Year" title in 1999.
On his first practice session on the new Miami track... "The session started out well and we were steadily gaining, running as high as third. Then I got wide and tagged the tire wall. Since the tires spilled out onto the track, it brought out the black flag which brought me a five minute penalty. That'll make you more careful and puts sense into your mind which you should have had there anyway.
"The remaining part of the session, I spent focusing on a couple of key corners. They can be very deceiving, but there are two places where it's worth a full second if you get it right.
"We'll be better this afternoon. The other guys had the full session and took full advantage of it. We need to play catch-up."
