BACON, MUFFLEY AND EDSAL GET OLD TIMERS WEEKEND VICTORIES

Winchester, IN (September 29, 2008) -- Brady Bacon, Carl Muffley and James Edsal all picked up feature victories on Sunday afternoon at Winchester Speedway as part of the Old Timers Weekend that saw over 70 vintage racecars on hand and a great group of retired open wheel drivers that took part in the weekend festivities on the historic High Banks of Winchester Speedway.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver Brady Bacon took his Kasey Kahne owned USAC Sprint car to victory lane on Sunday afternoon in the 30 lap USAC National Sprint Car Series feature event ending a streak of five straight victories at Winchester Speedway by car owner Keith Kuntz, whose driver Darrin Hagen, who had won the two previous series events at Winchester Speedway in 2008, finished in second.

Chris Windom grabbed the early lead as cars battled for position early in the event. Bacon worked his way to the front and made the pass in turn three on lap 11. Hagen battled his way through the field to move into second, but could never catch the highflying Bacon. Jacob Wilson would finish in third, Windom in fourth and Tracy Hines in fifth. Hines was the events Fast Qualifier while Brad Sweet, Jerry Coons Jr. and Bacon won the three 8 lap heat races.

Carl Muffley came into Sunday's events as the only driver with more than one win during the 2008 season with the CRA Street Stocks, Muffley made it number three on Sunday, it was also his third victory at Winchester Speedway this season. Mike Miller grabbed the early lead from his outside pole starting position and led the first 13 laps before his car suddenly slowed with ignition problems handing the lead to Rick Erwin, the winner of the last series event at ORP on September 20th.

Erwin had worked his way to the front from his fourth place starting position and looked ready to join Muffley in the multi event category when problems struck on a restart on lap 26 when his shifter broke leaving the car in second gear. Rich Boyer and the rest of the field managed to drive around Erwin with no mishaps with Boyer grabbing the lead. Muffley had worked his way through the field from his 10th place starting position to Boyer's bumper, Muffley then made a move and took the lead on lap 29. Muffley would hold off Boyer on a green, white checker finish after a late race caution to get the win.

Boyer finished in second, his best finish of the season. Steve Blair held on to a wicked loose racecar to finish third, also his best finish of the season. Newly crowned Anderson Speedway Street Stock Champion Jeff Perry finished in fourth with series point's leader Joe Beaver in fifth place. Beaver was the events Fast Qualifier while Josh Burton, Rick Irwin and Josh Ebbert were the winners of the 10 lap heat races.

In INEX Thunder Roadster action James Edsel got the victory over Al Renner. T.J. Sneva came back from early day issues to finish in third. Darrell Brown finished fourth with Tony Wachter on fifth place. Edsel was the Fast Qualifier while Renner got the victory in the eight-lap heat race.

The 37th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend Presented By Ed Martin Auto Group and Renegade will be the next event at Winchester Speedway on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 10th, 11th and 12th with racing action from the Vore's Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts, CRA Street Stocks, Howe CRA Sportsman Series and The Run For The Gun Shootout for the O'Reilly USA Modified Series in addition to the Annual Winchester 400 with NASCAR stars Kyle Busch and David Stremme competing against the best late model drivers in the country.
