Scully leads Western Midgets to Stockton Saturday; Hansen notches 1st Ford Focus Midget win at Orange Show.
Shane Scully of Encino, Calif. enjoys a 70-point lead over runner-up Robby Flock of Murrieta, Calif. going into this Saturday night's USAC Western Regional Midget Car race at Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway. A 30-lap feature tops the program of events on the 1/4-mile paved oval, co-sanctioned by BCRA.
Garrett Hansen of Redondo Beach, Calif. won Saturday night's 20-lap USAC Ford Focus Midget Car race at the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. He passed Jon Wilcox on the 13th lap and led the rest of the way for the victory. Wilcox finished second, ahead of Wayne McCormick, J.J. Ercse and Chris Rahe.
Todd Hunsaker was Saturday's fastest Ford Focus Midget qualifier and leads the standings despite his ninth-place San Bernardino finish. He leads Phil Goodwine (sixth at the Orange Show) by 37 points going into a July 6 race at Irwindale, Calif.
Hansen becomes the seventh different race winner in the first nine races for the brand-new Ford Focus Midget Car Series.
