McRae wins in a thrilling final day's rallying!
Didier Auriol/Denis Giraudet in a Corolla WRC were leading the rally until the penultimate stage when a heavy landing caused a fuel-pump fuse to pop out and cut the engine, losing Auriol 40 seconds. McRae then went on to win the rally by 20 seconds. (TTE)

Notes: - Didier Auriol was leading the rally until the penultimate stage when a heavy landing caused a fuel-pump fuse to pop out and cut the engine, losing Auriol 40 seconds and the lead of the rally - Burns retired on SS15. Cause... broken rear suspension.By that time he was fourth overall. - Liatti went off the road on SS16. Continues with problems and long delay. - Sainz had a power steering failure towards the end of SS13 and it failed 9Km into SS14. - Kankkunen had a puncture 5 km from the end of SS14. - the top Formula 2 cars and Group N cars maintained position as per end of Leg 2
