Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and Jeremy McGrath continue Scholarship program for Aspiring Mechanics; Phoenix Campus Revs Up with MMI Supercross Tailgate Party

AURORA, Ill. (January 13, 2010) -- Feld Motor Sports announced today that the UTI Foundation is accepting applications for the MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship. Three deserving recipients of a shared $20,000 scholarship will be announced at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, finals at Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium, May 8. In conjunction with the Phoenix stop of Monster Energy0x00ae Supercross, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute will host the inaugural MMI Supercross Tailgate party at its Phoenix, Ariz. campus located at 2844 W. Deer Valley Road, on Thurs., Jan. 14, 2-7 PM to showcase their support for the sport.

The MMI Supercross Tailgate Party gives fans an opportunity to see a few teams up close and meet Jeremy McGrath, Ryan Clark and other racers as well as Miss Supercross, Mercedes Terrell. Fans will have a chance to win Monster Energy Supercross tickets and other sponsor prizes, as well as tour MMI's training facilities.

The MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship was designed to change the lives of individuals who have a passion for motorcycles and an interest in becoming professional technicians. Those interested should submit an application and a two-minute DVD expressing why they should receive the scholarship. As part of the application process, McGrath will personally review the 10 semi-finalist DVDs and conduct phone interviews with each of the four finalists before making his final selections at the conclusion of the Las Vegas supercross. Three individuals are selected and share the $20,000 grant toward his/her program of choice at the MMI campus in Phoenix, Ariz. or Orlando, Fla. The first, second and third place recipients will receive $10,000, $6,000 and $4,000, respectively.

"Feld Motor Sports is thrilled to have MMI's continued support of Monster Energy Supercross," said Ryan McSpadden, Vice President of Sales, Feld Entertainment. "The MMI Jeremy McGrath Scholarship is a true investment in the future of the sport by providing opportunities for students who are interested in working in the motorcycle industry. In addition, we look forward to the inaugural MMI Supercross Tailgate Party and bringing the Supercross experience to MMI's Phoenix campus."

The successful alliance between Monster Energy0x00ae Supercross and MMI has launched the careers of several aspiring supercross/motocross mechanics as part of the Jeremy McGrath Scholarship. During the Monster Energy0x00ae Supercross finals last year Jason Abney, Hazel Wirth and Brandon Dooley received the Jeremy McGrath Scholarship. Past recipients include Tyler Sherbet (2008), Matthew Langham (2007), Mary Morgan (2006) and Todd Hunn (2005).

"It has been exciting watching these scholarship recipients become successful in the industry after training. We look forward to welcoming three more to MMI in May," said Terry Emig, director of Motorsports and Event Marketing for MMI. "We are grateful for this tremendous opportunity to raise awareness about technician training and careers while changing lives."
