Rain Prevents Menards Pole Qualifying at Toledo
(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 11, 2010) - Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at Toledo Speedway has been cancelled due to persistent rain. As a result, ARCA Racing Series officials have set the starting line-up for Sunday's Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 200 by car owner points, which places Patrick Sheltra on the pole for Sunday's race.
Sheltra and Tom Hessert entered this weekend's ARCA Series event at Toledo tied in championship points. However, Sheltra earned the pole over Hessert by having a better average finish - 7.5 to Hessert's 7.6875. As outlined in the ARCA Rulebook, best average finish is the second tie-breaker - the first being number of events in which the teams have entered and competed.
The cancellation of Menards Pole Qualifying is the second time in 2010 that qualifications have been canceled due to rain, the other being at Texas Motor Speedway in April. After 16 events in 2010, 13 different drivers have earned Menards Pole awards, with Craig Goess and Chris Buescher each having won the award twice.
Track personnel will now turn their efforts towards drying the quarter mile oval for the scheduled running of the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series 40 lap feature event.
