Nazareth Qualifying Story

NAZARETH, Pa. -- Buddy Rice will start from the pole for Saturday's KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship race at the Bosch Spark Plug Grand Prix Presented by Toyota.

Rice, of Phoenix, Ariz., covered the .946-mile oval circuit with a time of :23.627, averaging 144 miles per hour in his Lynx Racing Ralt RT-41. Rice's fast qualifying lap was his second straight, following his pole at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach earlier this month.

Starting alongside Rice on the front will be Canadian Andrew Bordin, who recorded a time of :23.761 in his B.D.J.S Ralt RT-41, for an average speed of 143.327. Canadian Lee Bentham will start third in his Forsythe Racing Ralt RT-40.

Saturday's race, round two of the 13-race KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship, is scheduled for a 3 p.m. local start.
