Belgrade 24 Hours: Racing in the city!

GENNEP (May 5th, 2010) The inaugural edition of the Belgrade 24 Hours, an endurance race for GT and touring cars, will be taking place on June 25th till 27th, 2010. This event will be a very special one as it will be the world's only 24-hour race to be held on a street circuit! A track has been set out in and around a park in the city centre of Belgrade, Serbia, and has been officially approved by the national motorsports authority. The "Autodrome Nikola Tesla" street circuit has a length of 3,4 kilometres. Of course, safety measures are according to FIA recommendations, with concrete walls and Armco barriers, wide run-off areas and gravel traps. Construction of the semi-permanent street circuit will start on June 1st. The race will count towards the 24H SERIES, together with the Dunlop 24H of Dubai and the 12H of Hungary. Dutch agency, CREVENTIC, has been asked by the local organisers of the Belgrade 24 Hours to help promoting the event.

The Belgrade 24 Hours will be the undisputed highlight of a weekend full of activities in the city centre of Belgrade. Concerts and other events will be organised in the park by well-known event organisers EXIT and no less than 100,000 spectators are expected. Conveniently located in Central Europe, Belgrade can be reached through a network of motorways and some low- cost carriers are offering attractively priced flights to and from various airports in other European countries.

Approximately 25 teams have already registered to participate in the inaugural edition of this unique 24-hour race, the cars ranging from state- of-the-art Porsche 997 GT3, Aston Martin Vantage N24 and Audi R8 up to compact Renault Clio Cup cars. "I have visited the city of Belgrade recently and I was pleasantly surprised by the good infrastructure, the friendly atmosphere with many bars and restaurants and the terraces on the banks of the river Danube. I am sure that having a race here will be quite a special experience", says Ivo Breukers on behalf of CREVENTIC. "Of course, an inaugural event like this is always some kind of adventure, too, but so was the first edition of our 24H of Dubai, which now has become firmly established as a regular event on the international motor racing calendar. People in Belgrade are very enthusiastic and I have no doubt that this event will become a success, too!"

Activities are set to start with a Welcome Party on Thursday evening, June 24th, where the Mayor of the City of Belgrade will officially hand over the starting numbers to all the competitors. Free practice, qualifying and night practice, as well as CREVENTIC's popular rent-a-car-rides will all be held on Friday, June 25th. The 24-hour race itself will get underway on Saturday at 4 pm, preceded by some support races from national categories.

For the inaugural edition, the entry fee is only E 2,500 per car and fuel is being sold at a price of only E 1,25 per litre. There are special promotions for insurance fees, accommodation and catering packages as well. More information can be found on the website, www.24hseries.com
