Albers happy with Jordan test

Christijan Albers got behind the wheel of a Jordan at Jerez on Wednesday and was happy with how the test went. The Dutchman, who drove for Mercedes in the German touring car championship (DTM) this season, was slightly disappointed that the weather conditions were not better, but acquitted himself reasonably well.

"Like the team, I'm very happy with the way things went today," he said on his website. "Under changing conditions we did a good amount of mileage and I could even show my ground speed. And that was exactly what we both wanted to achieve!"

"Though I'd never driven in this car and on this track before, I could easily find my rhythm. It's a shame that due to the rain we couldn't ran as quick as I might have done, but I hope to be able to show that another time."

Albers completed 75 laps in the EJ14 and the team recorded his time as 1:24.45. Robert Doornbos, who was in the interim car with 2005 spec aerodynamics, was one place behind on the time sheet and about a second slower. Doornbos was previously Jordan third driver for the last three races of the 2004 season.

Jordan has not really indicated who might be driving the yellow cars next year but Giorgio Pantano has not given up hope. Pantano was dropped by the team and replaced with Timo Glock for the last three races, due to sponsor problems. The Italian is eyeing the vacancies at Jordan and Red Bull in hope of staying in F1 but is also considering a move to the States.
