Alonso on three stop strategy, Button heavy

Fernando Alonso is on a very light initial fuel load and a three-stop strategy for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

When asked at the Hungaroring if the pole sitting Spaniard, who celebrated Renault's first pole since 2006 on Saturday, will stop two times or three in the race, team boss Flavio Briatore answered: "Three."

Indeed, when the FIA published the starting weights of the field, Alonso's R29 tipped the scales a full 18kg beneath his fellow front row-getter Sebastian Vettel.

Championship leader Jenson Button, meanwhile, qualified eighth with the heaviest fuel load of any of the nine Q3 participants.

Brawn GP explained afterwards that the move was not intentional, but the result of Button having to sit in the garage for half of the decisive session.

After a piece of Rubens Barrichello's rear end fell off in Q2, the team said a component was changed "as a precautionary measure" on the sister car.

"I was only able to get one run and that was on a heavy fuel load with four more laps of fuel than we had planned," said Briton Button.
