The Honda Racing F1 Team is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with British F3 champion Mike Conway. 22 year old Mike, the reigning British F3 and Macau GP champion, will join the Honda Racing F1 Team with immediate effect and will have the opportunity to drive the Honda RA107 Formula One car at a test session later in the year.

Rising star Mike dominated the British F3 season in 2006, ending the year as Champion with ten race wins. He capped an excellent year by taking victory at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in November and the award for National Racing Driver at the 2006 Autosport Awards in December, to go alongside his previous championship success in Formula Renault in 2004. Mike will be making the step up to the GP2 series this year as he competes with the Super Nova team.

At the same time as competing in the GP2 series, Mike will have the opportunity to steadily integrate himself into the workings of a top Formula One team with Honda. As well as track time in the RA107 later in the year, Mike will enjoy a comprehensive programme of technical assistance and the same level of fitness and human performance coaching enjoyed by the team's race drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

Gil de Ferran, Sporting Director at the Honda Racing F1 Team, said; "We are delighted to welcome Mike to the Honda Racing F1 Team. Mike has clearly demonstrated his potential and talent throughout his career in the various junior formulae with a great deal of success. His results in the British F3 series last year were particularly impressive. Honda considers the development of emerging motorsport talent to be a key part of our strategy and we look forward to having Mike on board with us and assisting further with his development over the coming months."

Commenting on his exciting move, Mike Conway said, "This is a fantastic opportunity to me and I would like to thank the Honda Racing F1 Team for putting their faith in me. I am really excited about becoming a part of the team and taking full advantage of the assistance that Honda can give me with my racing career. I had a great season in 2006 but there is a lot of hard work ahead in the GP2 series this year."
