Coulthard frustrated with no points

McLaren's David Coulthard is very frustrated that he has yet to get any points on the championship board and both races so far this year have been disasters for him. At the Australian Grand Prix the Scot retired with gearbox failure and in Malaysia he faced engine problems that forced him out of the race. Last season Coulthard came as close as he ever has to winning the title, coming second to Michael Schumacher but it was a distant second and McLaren had a struggle to keep the revitalized Williams team behind them. Coulthard needs points badly to keep any hope of challenging for this year's championship alive.

"I am very frustrated because my sights were on race wins and challenging for the Championship this year," he said. "That does not put a pressure on you, but it does set such a high goal but it is difficult to pretend it doesn't hurt when it is not working well because it does hurt. I almost need to go to Brazil and say I am going there to score a point, so I am aiming for sixth and build from there. I am just going to take so much energy out of myself trying to aim for the top. I know we have a package which is capable of winning races, but we just need a bit of reliability. I am two races down with no points from the season and I still haven't completed more than 15 racing laps at a proper pace."

Coulthard won the Brazilian Grand Prix last year, a victory he will be wanting to repeat next weekend at the Interlagos circuit. Team mate Kimi Raikkonen also retired from this season's Malaysian Grand Prix, with a blown engine, and McLaren are working hard on finding reliability for the next race.
