GARY ANDERSON LEAVES JORDAN GRAND PRIX

Eddie Jordan today announced that Gary Anderson, Technical Director of Jordan Grand Prix since its inception in 1990 has resigned. Anderson, 47 from Coleraine, has designed every Jordan F1 car including the car in which Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher made Grand Prix history with a One-Two in the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa. Anderson: Nine years ago, when I started at Jordan Grand Prix as Technical Director, we hardly had a pencil, let alone a drawing board! Eddie and I were not sure if we would ever go Grand Prix racing. But we were right to believe in ourselves, as we have now successfully completed eight years of competition with five different engine manufacturers, finishing fifth in the Constructors Championship on four occasions. And now we have topped this with a fantastic One-Two with in Spa. After this great result, I feel the time is right for me to move on. This has not been an easy decision but for various reasons I have decided to face a new challenge. Jordan: Over twenty years Gary and I have been both rivals and partners in motor racing at all levels but above all friends. I want to thank him for all he has done for Jordan Grand Prix and it is fitting that the Spa result should be the ultimate accolade for his contribution. I wish him well for the future.
