The museum has been located in its current building for decades, but its director, Alain Bellehumeur, agrees that the place a few additional square meters and a bit of facelift.

The museum has on display snowmobiles of Gilles Villeneuve, several race cars (Magnum Formula Ford, March Formula Atlantic and others) as well as two BAR F1 cars of Jacques Villeneuve, CART IndyCars, Gilles’ pick-up truck and more. Dozens of trophies, race suits, helmets, photos and original documents can be seen during the visit.

“This new section will serve two purposes,” said Bellehumeur. “It will serve to stage theme expositions devoted to motorsport in general and its champions, from every category for dirt tracks to F1. The new section will also be a scene suitable for congress, conferences and meetings.”

Bellehumeur told Motorsport.com that from now on the museum will expand to other forms of motorsport, and will no longer be entirely devoted to the late Gilles Villeneuve.

Bellehumeur added that every motorsport fan and car aficionados is invited to contribute. For a $100 donation, one will have his or her name engraved on the outside wall of the new building.

People interested in giving to the Museum are invited to call 1-800-639-0103, or 450-836-2714 or to visit the web site at museegillesvilleneuve.com.
