The BMW WilliamsF1 Team was at Silverstone for the first of a three-day test. Juan Pablo Montoya drove the FW23 and only managed to complete 20 laps. After the euphoria of the first win for the WilliamsF1, BMW and Michelin partnership, this was back to the hard work of testing. Juan Pablo will be joined tomorrow and Thursday by Ralf Schumacher.
Sam Michael (WilliamsF1 Senior Operations Engineer)
"In the build up to the next race in Barcelona we are going to concentrate
for these three days on the new software changes. We are also going to be
doing a considerable amount of tyre testing for Michelin with drys and wets,
and if Silverstone is anything like normal we should do plenty of running on
the wets!"
Dr Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director)
"Today was the beginning of a test that, on the engine side, is focusing on
the fine tuning of traction control and launch control. We gained some
useful results, but in fact the low temperatures were not really helpful for
today's work."
