Formula One may be in the three-week summer break but work still goes on despite the holiday. Track testing is banned during the break but Williams is not idle; new components for the Hungarian Grand Prix are being developed at the team base in Grove, UK, and at BMW's Munich headquarters.

Juan Pablo Montoya suffered a poor start at the German GP and Williams hopes to have the problems rectified for the next race. "We are doing everything possible so that further developments will be ready in time for Budapest," said technical director Sam Michael, according to the team website.

"There will be new components that should help us during the start phase. Plus we have developed some new aerodynamic and mechanical components." With only six races remaining, every point counts.

The technical director is Australian, so next year when Mark Webber joins the team, the two will have common ground. "I hadn't really spoken to Sam until this year," said Webber.

"I didn't know him at all. Sam is obviously on a pretty similar channel to me, which is very useful from the start. That's going to be healthy for us, I hope."

Webber is committed to Jaguar until the end of this season but even with Williams he doesn't expects 2005 to be easy. "It was certainly the biggest day in my career when I signed the BMW Williams contract," he commented. "However, I'm under no illusion of the work ahead of us if we're to achieve the goals we both aspire to."
