Palais Omnisport in Paris-Bercy was sold out completely. Unfortunately not all of the invited drivers did appear. I missed Jacques Villeneuve, Paul Tracy, Nelson Piquet, and Heinz Harald Frentzen.
All karts were 100cc, 18000 rpm, top speed 120 km/h, made in Italy.
Both days were held after the same scheme: - Qualifying, quarter-finals: 10 drivers each race, 15 laps, the first five qualified for semi-final. - Semi-finals: 12 drivers each race (10 from quarter-finals + 2 next fastest) 20 laps. - Final: 12 drivers, 25 laps
On Saturday all starts were flying starts. This was changed into standing starts on Sunday. The flying starts were always uncontrollable. And it was too dangerous for the starter, who was standing in front of the field and then running and jumping for his life mostly before the green light came. I had to laugh tears. The pace-unit was a small motor bike or scooter.
Schumacher was fastest in qualifying with 27.392.
