The three Honda Accord musketeers were absent at Mine in the southern Honshu where Nissan suddenly found the lost pace to capture the double win despite the changing track conditions.

R.I.P. Jeff Krosnoff 1964-1996

Jeff was an immensely popular figure throughout his time in Japan which counted seven long years.

A very versatile driver, the Californian raced in touring cars, Group C (for Nissan, Jaguar, Toyota among others), and F3000 in our soil, before he went back to the U.S. to get a crack at IndyCar. And he did it on pure merit. Sadly he left this world before he had a chance to show his true form in front of home crowd. The most memorable race for us Japanese should be Le Mans '94 where Jeff teamed up with Mauro Martini and Eddie Irvine in the Sard Toyota 94CV.

The Toyota stopped with the broken gearshift while Jeff was at the wheel. He was leading one of the most prestigeous races in the world but there he was with the car at halt on the main straight with only two hours to the flag.

He climbed out, got to the rear, fixed the shift linkage, restarted, got around an eight mile track with one gear to the pits. It took him 30 minutes but it was his experience, his spirit, his desire to win that led the Sard Toyota to finish the gruelling race in eventual second.

Losing Roland Ratzenberger in 1994 was unbearable enough for the Japanese racing community, and it's really hard now to believe Jeff Krosnoff is no longer with us.
