TWO LEXUS-POWERED PROTOTYPES RUNNING IN ROLEX TOP-10 AT 3-HOUR MARK
The #02 Target/Telmex Lexus-Riley of Ganassi Racing held the lead for most of the third hour of today's Rolex 24 at Daytona before giving up the lead in the pits as Scott Dixon registered the fastest lap of the race through the 90-lap mark. The #02 currently runs seventh, while the #01 Telmex/Target Lexus Ganassi team car was running in eighth. The #3 Southard Motorsports Lexus-Riley was running in 17th-place, two laps down.
Barry Wanser, #02 Ganassi Racing Lexus: (On starting the race from the pit lane) "After seeing the weather radar, it looked like it would be wet at the start, so we put wet tires on the car to begin the race. But after we did the first pace lap, we saw the track was dry all around and it made sense to come in right away to change to slicks, so we had to start the race from the pit lane."
Scott Pruett, #01 Telmex/Target Lexus: I've been having a little problem locking up the front so I had to do a couple of pit stops because we're being overly cautious. The Telmex car is running well otherwise. I just need to find that line between carrying good speed and locking it up."
