The Doran-Lista Team to Start on the Pole For the Nextel 250 Tomorrow at Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla., March 1 - The Doran-Lista Dallara Judd #27 of Mauro Baldi and Didier Theys will start on the pole tomorrow afternoon for the Nextel 250 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race will be televised live on Speed Channel.

Qualifying was canceled due to an accident during the second practice session Friday which claimed the life of Jeff Clinton, 38, of St. Louis, Mo., who was competing in the Sports Racing Prototype II class. The starting line-up was determined by the entrants' point standings, which the Doran-Lista team leads by virtue of its victory at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona last month in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Team manager Kevin Doran said that Baldi, of Monte Carlo, Monaco, will start the race and then be relieved by Theys, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

One more practice session was held Friday following MBNA Qualifying for the Indy Racing League season opener which will precede the Nextel 250.

"We checked the gearbox, did our regular race prep and scrubbed in some tires; we're ready to go," Doran said.

The race will get the green flag after the IRL race concludes tomorrow, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
