Mark Blundell has left the team, as has the sponsor, Motorola , Blundell had three victories during his five-year tenure with the team.

PacWest Indy Lights driver Scott Dixon is the leading candidate to replace Blundell. The 20-year-old New Zealand native was the 2000 Dayton Indy Lights champion.

Dixon was the dominant driver during the season, winning half of the 12 races. A sponsor has yet to be named for that car.

Also not yet named is the race engineer for the No. 18 car. It is expected that Daryl Fox will continue in his role as chief mechanic on the car.

The team will continue with the Reynard chassis, the marque it has utilized since 1995.

Toyota will likely replace the Mercedes, PacWest's engine supplier since 1997.

Another change for the team is the departure of John Anderson, former vice president for race operations. Race team manager Russell Cameron will be assuming at least some of Anderson's duties.

Mauricio Gugelmin will continue to be the driver of the No. 17 Nextel-sponsored car.

This will be the seventh season with the team for the 37-year-old Brazilian. He has one win and three pole positions with the team, all during the 1997 season.

Dave Brzozowski will continue as the chief mechanic for Guglemin's car.
