Marlboro Yamaha Team Forced To Switch Test Venue
Due to the unexpected sudden decision of the Jerez Circuit to close the circuit permanently as from Monday 28th January in order to complete its reconstruction in time for the Jerez Grand Prix in May, the Marlboro Yamaha Team has been forced to cancel its scheduled test dates of 28th/29th/30th January.
With the Marlboro Yamaha Team transporters already in Spain, the alternative venue of the Almeria Circuit in southern Spain has been confirmed for a two day test on the 29th and 30th January.
Carlos Checa will ride the Yamaha YZR-M1 at this test. Due to the fact that Almeria does not feature on the World Championship calendar, Max Biaggi, with the agreement of the Team Management and Yamaha's engineers, has decided that he will not attend the test but will be back in action at Valencia for the group IRTA test from 15-17 February.
