Developing story: Logano out, Gordon in?
Reports from Chicagoland hint at potential Chase shakeup.
An unnamed source at Chicagoland Speedway has told Motorsport.com that there may be another shift in the Chase standings before cars hit the track for qualifying.
Media outlets have been informing their personnel on site to keep an eye on Jeff Gordon, as the situation unfolds.
It was reported that NASCAR was looking into more evidence of race result tampering between the teams of Joey Logano and David Gilliland on Wednesday, but nothing has come of the situation as of yet.
If NASCAR follows the precedent set by the Truex/Bowyer Michael Waltrip Racing penalties from Richmond a week ago, it appears that Logano could be bumped out of the Chase to make way for Gordon.
The evidence says that Logano’s team asked David Gillilands team to give him a spot on track, which would make up the points necessary to make the NASCAR post-season.
UPDATE:
Fox Sports 1's Bob Dillner reported on the practice broadcast today that representatives from both Front Row Motorsports and Penske Racing met with NASCAR Officials today at the track.
“It was an intense and long discussion about everything that happened at Richmond," said Dillner.
