TONY RAINES (No. 96 DLP HDTV Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS)
WAS THE FASTEST IN THE MORNING PRACTICE SESSION: "The DLP car seemed to drive pretty well. The second car, the one that's fastest, seemed to drive a little bit better than the other car, obviously. We'd like to get both cars to run the same speed. That's kind of the goal of the test here. I wouldn't get too excited about it, because things change so fast, but it's a good feeling. The DLP guys have worked hard on the cars the last month and a half, and it's starting to show. We're off to a good start."
EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING, DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO BE ON TOP OF THE SPEED CHART? "Well, I've been down here many times and been at the bottom of the speed chart and you get frustrated. You work so hard on the car, but you're limited on what you can do and making the car faster is a huge job down here. So, to start out good, it makes you feel like all the work in the shop is paying off."
