Taylor Leads at the Break

Scott Taylor has a 20-point lead with eight of 14 rounds completed in the 2005 Lucas Oil Championship Off-Road Racing series. The traditional mid-season month long break from competition is nearly complete with the drivers heading this weekend for the Boss Snowplow Off-Road Challenge in Bark River, Michigan.

The extra time off between the Topeka and Bark River events has allowed Scott Taylor to test additional chassis setups for the final run for the championship. "Our #1 Skyjacker Suspension BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 is one of the last PRO-2 non-standardized chassis' in competition. Last year, CORR mandated changes to our cockpit layout. In 2005 the new DOT tire rule was another change for the truck. The combination of the two has been a real challenge to get the truck to handle well, especially on the shorter tracks. We know what to expect in Bark River and Crandon, but the final rounds in San Diego could make things very interesting," says Taylor.

In the first eight rounds of racing, Taylor has finished first three times, and only once failed to finish out of the Top-5. Even though Taylor has a slight cushion over second place, two points only separate second through fourth in the standings.

"With the top 4 drivers so close together in the standings, we cannot afford any missteps the rest of the season," notes Taylor.

Scott Taylor is seeking an unprecedented seventh CORR Pro-2 title.

The next event on the Lucas Oil CORR calendar is August 12-14 in Bark River, Michigan.
