MCNALLY GETTING A GRIP ON V8 UTES AT THE TOP END

Rhys McNally hit the track for the very first time at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway today in Round 3 of the V8 Utes Series and is confident of solid improvements over the weekend.

In what was his first session on the track Rhys was surprised by the technical nature of the some parts of the circuit.

"From the outside it looks pretty basic," he said.

"But when you are out there there are quite a few trick spots with high speed direction changes and deep braking into curves."

Rhys was 24th fastest in that session.

Session two was more about getting laps as Rhys became more familiar with the car, he was 18th fastest and believes there is more speed to come tomorrow.

"With new tyres, set-up changes and more laps under my belt I am confident that I can get closer to where we want to be in tomorrow's qualifying session."

Qualifying is at 9.30am with race 1 at 1.30pm local time. Race 1 tomorrow will be televised live on Channel 7 along with race 2 on Sunday.

"It is great to have some live TV as our sponsors, friends and family at home can watch us in action from the comfort of their home.
