WILDEN TAKES PROVISIONAL POLE FOR PLAYER'S CHALLENGE RACE AT TROIS-RIVIERES

TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. - Kenny Wilden, of Burlington, Ont., took the provisional pole on Friday for Sunday's Player's Challenge for the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship race at the Player's Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres.

Wilden, in the Mike Shank Racing/TrizecHahn/Newcourt Swift 008.a, posted a time of 1:02.176 around the 1.5207-mile temporary street circuit, an average speed of 87.197 miles per hour. Anthony Lazzaro, of Acworth, Ga., was second fastest at 1:02.404 in the PPI-MCI Swift 008.a, an average speed of 86.879 miles per hour. Memo Gidley, of Novato, Calif., was third quickest at 1:02.685, an average of 86.489 miles per hour in his Lynx Racing Swift 008.a.

Final qualifying is set for 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Round eight of the 13-race KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship is scheduled for a 2:05 p.m. start on Sunday.
