EU3000: Magny-Cours: Series race two report

THE ROOKIE HANLEY (FMSI) WINS AHEAD OF HIS TEAM-MATE ONIDI

The 24-years-old English Ben Hanley won race-2 in Magny-Cours at his debut in Euroseries 3000. The Fisichella Motorsport International driver beat at the chequered flag by just 9 tenths of a second his team mate Fabio Onidi, who led the race for the first five laps. On the third step of the French podium went the Durango team, making his comeback in the series, with Marcello Puglisi at the wheel, 8"8 behind the winner. The Italian, who wasn't in perfect physical conditions in race-1 took his revenge on Sunday.

Good race also for the other rookie, Earl Bamber, from New Zealand, who went near the podium with TP Formula's Lola-Zytek. On the points in France also Marco Bonanomi (Bull Racing) and for the first time the Venezuelan Rodolfo Gonzales (FMSI). The race of Fabrizio Crestani (TP Formula), instead, finished at the first lap, due to a big crash with Michael Dalle Stelle after the spin of the latter. The Lola B0552 indeed showed to be very solid and safe in the occasion.

The Italian is now second in the championship with 20 points, while leading is Bonanomi with 21. Onidi is third with 18 points, ready to exploit the possible mistakes by his rivals. Lolas B0552-Zytek with the 550-hp engine showed to be particularly performing on the French track. In the practice they were just 7 tenths off the more powerful Superleague Formula cars, beating the lap records of 1''8 the old F.3000 International . Next race of Euroseries 3000 in Donington on the 2nd of August.
