Josh Burdon is latest Aussie Young Gun

JOSH BURDON JOINS CAMS AUSSIE YOUNG GUNS

CAMS is delighted to announce Josh Burdon as the latest talented driver in the CAMS Aussie Young Gun program for 2009. Burdon, hailing from Tasmania, will step into the second CAMS Aussie Racing Car prepared by the team at Aussie Racing Cars after impressive results in karting.

In 2007 and 2008 Burdon was named Tasmanian Junior Clubman Champion. He recorded a 4th placed result in Junior Clubman at the State Titles in 2008, as well as a 1st at the Southern Karting Prix in the Open Class. Burdon has only been beaten once in any of the Tasmanian events in which he has entered.

When Josh was asked about his thoughts on being able to drive an Aussie Racing Car for the remainder of the season he replied "Aussie Racing Cars is a very popular category with the public, and has extremely close racing. The closer the racing the more people pay attention. If you can stand out in [this] field, then you have a much higher chance of being noticed".

Josh has had the opportunity to test the Aussie Racing Car at Oran Park recently and said that he "enjoyed it. It is the perfect race car, it's got power, it stops and it turns in".

Phil Ward who prepares the Aussie Racing Cars as well as manages the category said 'I am very impressed with young Josh, he has shown fantastic car control during testing and his speed in the car to date is a reflection of his real natural talent. I get a real kick out of seeing the up and coming young stars really enjoying the opportunity to hone their skills in our cars, it is the most cost effective arena to build a profile within the sport".

As a driver in the CAMS Aussie Young Guns program, Josh has the opportunity to attend camps at the Australian Institute of Sport where he is able to monitor his fitness, train under the instruction of AIS trainers, learn recovery techniques, receive media training and work with a sports psychologist.

When asked about how CAMS Aussie Young Guns will help Josh, he exclaimed "All the training at the AIS will help me move forward, little by little I will improve more at younger age. As I go along I'll be able to learn the tricks of the trade from people like the media personnel and fitness instructors."
