Level Racing scores well in 24 Hours of the Nurburgring

EUPEN. Last weekend the 38th edition of the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring took place. During 24 hours more than 200 entrants raced on the most challenging circuit in the world, and amongst those 200 teams Level Racing based in Eupen, competing in their first real endurance race. Olivier Muytjens and the Italians Bruno Barbaro and Guissepe Arlotti brought the Porsche 997 Cup over the line in an excellent 29th place, giving them a sixth place in their well-filled class, in which the Audi works cars were also entered. "We have competed in three races this season, one in the Belcar, one in the VdeV and now in this real classic race and on each occasion we have finished without any problems; that's definitely something to be proud about with this young team", Olivier Muytjens beamed after the finish.

"The two Italians have some 15 races together under their belts and experience obviously wasn't a problem. That is something you definitely need here taking into account the faster and slower traffic. An accident here isn't hidden away in a quiet corner, it's just everywhere...", Olivier Muytjens remarked on Saturday just before the start of the race. "Personally I know this track pretty well, as I've carried out a fair amount of test work here. It is indeed brilliant to appear at the start with your own team, especially now in this third race we are competing in. On top of that the Porsche 997 is a good weapon; a good solid car and I believe that we can finish reasonably well. But all the same, with a 98th starting place, 200 other competitors and this circuit you also need a fair amount of luck."

Olivier Muytjens himself crossed the finish line and was highly satisfied with the result. "I can only see one problem", he laughed. "The press release and the race report will be boring. We didn't break anything, not once did we experience an unscheduled stop and we didn't even need to replace our brake pads. We just drove, drove and drove... That's quite unbelievable, isn't it? I'm really delighted with the outcome and the hard work everyone put in."

"This result opens up prospects for the coming races over this distance, as we also have ambitions of scoring well in Spa and Zolder and those who opt for us definitely won't be disappointed. We are a family minded team, and even though our cars are perhaps not the latest version, we did prove here on the Ring that we could hold our own and that when it comes to longer races the Porsche 997 is a brilliant car."

Already earlier this month Level Racing had clinched a podium place in their class, during the second race of the International VdeV Challenge.

The following race for the Eupen-based team is the second Belcar round held on 4th and 5th June at Spa-Francorchamps, and here Level Racing will be back on their favourite circuit for another strong result.
