Congratulations for Trulli

Jarno Trulli could hardly have picked a better place than Monaco for his maiden Formula One win. Having claimed his first pole position in Saturday's qualifying, Trulli followed it up by leading the race from pole to flag. He took not only his own first win but also the first win in the Principality for Renault as a team.

Renault boss Flavio Briatore was, obviously, delighted. "He made no mistakes at all during the race, controlled the pace and demonstrated what he is capable of," he praised Trulli. "There has never been any question about his talent, and this result confirms it."

Teammate Fernando Alonso was happy to congratulate the Italian, despite crashing out of the race himself while in second place. "When I won in Budapest last year, Jarno was one of the first people to congratulate me, and he was genuinely happy," said Alonso. "(This time), it's the other way round."

Ferrari did not have a great weekend in Monaco but team principal Jean Todt was gracious in defeat. "He deserved his win because he qualified well, drove a perfect race and won it," the Frenchman said about Trulli. "So one can only congratulate him, it's just reward for a very good driver. He's a very quick driver, very talented, low profile and he completely deserves his success over the weekend."

Trulli started his F1 career with Minardi and Paul Stoddart was also pleased. "Our sincere congratulations go to Jarno Trulli -- another former Minardi driver -- for his first-ever Formula One victory," said the team boss.

Jordan had reason to celebrate in Monaco after Nick Heidfeld finished seventh to score the team's first points of the season. Trulli also previously drove for Eddie Jordan's squad and the Irishman was quick to add his congratulations.

"I also want to congratulate Jarno Trulli on his first win," said EJ. "It would be hard to describe how he must be feeling now especially as his first victory has come in Monaco. Jarno has been a good friend to everyone at Jordan and we wish him every success."
