Jordan continues its resurgence

The Benson and Hedges Jordan team had another successful race, accumulating a further three points to maintain its fifth place in the Constructors' Championship. Damon Hill finished in fourth place, his second consecutive fourth place finish, and Ralf in ninth. The Hungarian Grand Prix marks the fourth race in a row in which the Benson and Hedges Jordan Mugen-Honda team has won points.

DAMON HILL CHASSIS 03 Finished 4th "I am very happy - that is now two fourth places on the trot, and if we keep this up, eventually we will end up on the podium. I am very pleased with the drive and with the whole weekend. It would have been fantastic to have kept Villeneuve behind me, but there was not much I could do as he was on a harder tyre, and every time I pulled away, he caught up with me until eventually he was able to pass me. Towards the end I could see Frentzen was closing up but I knew I had to keep pressing on for those last few laps to keep fourth place, which I managed to do, putting in my fastest lap two laps before the finish. It was a tough race, but another good day for Jordan."

RALF SCHUMACHER CHASSIS 04 Finished 9th "My start was not too bad but then I lost several places going wide on the first corner. It took a long time to regain my position, despite the fact the car was good, especially in the last stint. In terms of the lap times, I could have finished four or fifth, but I could not recover from being so far back. Still, it was good to have finished the race and I hope to win more points in Spa."

EDDIE JORDAN, TEAM OWNER "Going home with a further three points in the Championship is an immensely pleasurable feeling. This was not a circuit we were looking forward to at the beginning of the year, so the result is very satisfying. We really have turned things around, and to have come here, qualify fourth and finish fourth is testament to that."

Test Dates The B & H Jordan team will test at Monza next week. Pedro de la Rosa will test on Tuesday 18th and Ralf Schumacher on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was won by Michael Schumacher, his Ferrari overwhelming McLaren by executing a 3-pit stop strategy which left Coulthard and Hakkinen trailing. As Hakkinen encountered technical problems he fell back to sixth, being overtaken by the two Williams and Damon Hill's Jordan. Hill had fought off Villeneuve for most of the race, but was overtaken during the second of his excellent pit stops. He then encountered serious pressure from Frentzen, but the German was unable to get past before the race end.
