Interview with Justin Wilson

British driver and former F3000 champion, Justin Wilson has finally reached his goal today, December 17, 2002, when he signed with the KL Minardi team for 2003. The newest Formula One driver, Wilson, took time at today's press conference in London, England to chat with Motorsport.com's Mark Gledhill.

Gledhill: How do you feel?

Wilson: Very excited, yeah. It's looking forward to getting behind the wheel now.

Gledhill: What do you think of all this interest in you? A whole country will be watching you on the news tonight. How does that feel?

Wilson: It's a bit overwhelming. I'm used to dealing with one camera or one person from the press, but to have everyone looking at you and having to keep doing the same interview is something I'm not used to.

Gledhill: What about the fans? You're going to go to the British Grand Prix and Copse corner is going to have "Justin Wilson" all around it - how is it going to help you?

Wilson: I hadn't thought about that! Even doing the support races at the Grand Prix is a nice feeling. Even though there are no signs or anything like that it's still a great atmosphere to drive at your own Grand Prix. I'm just looking forward to that opportunity and I think for the team there are quite a few home races - Australia is a home race, Imola, etc. I think it is going to be a good interesting year.

Gledhill: How often do you train?

Wilson: I train every day, as much as possible. Whatever it takes. Usually it's 3-3.5 hours per day. That's working with a trainer, and I'll increase that, but the main thing is to do it right rather than steam in there!
