Spanish Grand Prix - Free Practice Friday 26 April 2002

Mika Salo

"I lost nearly the whole first session due to a power steering problem. We then had an oil leak towards the end of the second session. The guys changed the whole rear end in ten minutes, which was unbelievable. I have never seen that done before. We now have a pretty good idea what to do for qualifying, so I am not too worried about our positions today."

Allan McNish

"It was obviously a difficult day. Quite a lot of our pre-season testing was done here and historically we know that we are not as good at this circuit as at others. We have made some improvements, and will work on making the car easier to drive. Qualifying is not going to be so good, so we have to look more towards the race."

Gustav Brunner - Chief Designer

"We didn't have such a good day. We have tested here a lot recently but with all the other cars improving so much, it was quite a difficult job to get the two cars running half decently. A couple of small things needed changing to Mika's car, but we had no major technical problems and I am sure we will improve a bit by tomorrow."

Weather: Dry and sunny.
Temperatures: Air - Min 20C, Max 25C
Track - Min 19C, Max 25C Humidity 39% (session 1), 48% (session 2)
