Vettel surprised about Button criticism

Sebastian Vettel has suggested he might seek out championship rival Jenson Button for talks this weekend.

Red Bull's Vettel, who is fourth in the drivers' standings yet still seen by some as Button's biggest challenger for the title, learned at Spa-Francorchamps on Thursday that his British rival had been critical of his manoeuvres at the start of last Sunday's Valencia race.

Mainly reported by the German press, Button apparently blamed Vettel's arguably over-aggressive tactics for dropping places at the start of the European Grand Prix and subsequently not rising above seventh at the chequered flag.

"I haven't heard about it. I think we are here to race, so I don't know," Vettel, 22, said in Belgium. "Maybe I have to talk to him later if it was a problem for him.

"As I said, we try to race, we try to defend our position, so there's not much more to say," he added.

Button, who has been accused of bowing under the psychological pressure of his championship lead, said sitting down with Vettel will not be necessary.

"There's no problem," the Briton said on Thursday. "The (stewards) didn't say anything, so it was obviously okay, and there's nothing else you can do about it. It's part of racing."
