Varano: comments of the day after
Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors):
"I am happy about my performance since after the tests in July I did not
think I could set the pole. We worked well both on the car and on the
driving data and I managed to accomplish a perfect lap putting together
all my best sectors. Obtained the pole, a Varano the victory is almost
automatic, and this was the case. In the championship the fight is
getting tighter and tigheter and it will be thrilling until the end".
Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior):
"It has been a fairly positive weekend, exception made for qualifying
whereby we could have obtained something more if it were not for the
traffic that slowed me down while I was using my second set of new tyres.
This certainly influenced the outcome of my weekend: in race one
positions did not change and in race two, on a circuit whereby overtaking
is impossible, we could not expect much more than the fifth place. We are
satisfied anyway about our performances; we have been very competitive
and we will work to be as fast in Vallelunga too".
Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani):
"This has been a little bit of a troubled weekend for me starting from
qualifying where we missed the right lap to start among the top three. We
will analyze carefully all the data we have to be back on top in the next
round: classification-wise, the four of us are quite close and the title
fight will most likely end only at the last race".
Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing):
"This is a very fought championship and in a short circuit like Varano
the values on the field tend to get even closer. Qualifying was certainly
crucial due to the very few overtaking points offered by the track: at
the end of the session seven drivers were within just three tenths, from
the eighth, pole-man for race two, up to my position. This is a time gap
relatively short that determined the outcome of the weekend anyway: I
knew that starting from the back it would have been difficult to get in
the top ten and things went this way. I obtained some useful points for
the rookies classification where I aspire to finish the season within the
top three".
