George Russell joined a few elite clubs this year. Seven wins in a Formula 2 season, equalling Charles Leclerc and Stoffel Vandoorne as the all-time GP2/F2 leaders. Winning F2 in his rookie season, joining Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Nico Hulkenberg. And now he's joining all of his joint record holders but Vandoorne in Formula 1, taking a rightful spot at Williams next year.

But that fairytale link-up with a true British stalwart F1 team wouldn't have been possible without a brilliant 2018 F2 campaign, in which he had tremendous rivals in Lando Norris and Alexander Albon - who are also both headed for F1.
